THEATRICAL TRAILER ROUGH LAYOUT DRAFT 1

For my theatrical trailer, I want it to follow them as a couple, making their tension and chemistry undeniable, however making the audience question their compatibility and make them wonder how fate will push them together.

Theatrical trailers usually reveal most of the plot, a convention which mine will follow.

The layout will be Amy and Luke at the beginning showing their contrast and opposition, and as the trailer goes on their chemistry and tension will become clear.

This is a first draft of how I want it to be laid out:

  • Shots of her getting ready

  • Taglines: she's scatty, unlucky, always overlooked

  • Shots of him getting ready

  • Taglines: he's confident, popular, impossible

  • Shot of them bumping into each other at school - her books fall everywhere and he smirks and she says shut up

  • Them arguing over a seat in class

  • Teacher rolling their eyes at them

  • Them sitting far apart in class

  • Teacher saying “you two, work together”

  • They both groan and move to sit next to each other

  • He smirks and says something like “ugh we have dinner as well with the families tonight, aren't we forced to spend too much time together anyway”  sarcastically

  • Them downstairs arguing in the kitchen (maybe saying i hate you and he says yeah same)

  • Tagline: they used to be best friends

  • The mum saying stop arguing this falling out has been going on too long

  • Tagline: now they couldn't be further apart

  • In school – her looking at this boy and smiling and blushing

  • In school - her friend says just message him later omg

  • At home - she's on her bed questioning if she should send the message, eventually sends it

  • At his house - see the message pop up on his phone - unknown number

  • Tagline: one wrong number

  • He smirks and texts back

  • Tagline: never felt so right

  • Her texting whilst whilst walking and giggling

  • Him texting while in bed and smiling

  • Her texting whilst walking - walks into a lamppost

  • Him looking at his phone during class smiling

  • In school - says something to the boy she thought it was (either like hi or something abt their texts or like ive loved messaging you) and he reacts like he has no idea what shes talking about

  • She looks confused so sends a message saying “who are you”

  • Reply on phone (him) saying "you'll have to wait to find out, this anonymous thing is kind of fun”

  • Tagline: no names

  • Tagline: no labels

  • Tagline: no expectations

  • Them arguing in school

  • Split screen of them texting each other to full screen of them bumping into each other again and groaning, rolling eyes

  • Shot of them in class, both on their phones texting

  • Teacher says “detention, both of you”

  • Awkward silence in detention

  • She drops her pen

  • They both reach down to pick it up

  • Get very close and make intense eye contact

  • Then go back to what their each doing awkwardly

  • He says “remember when we used to be okay”

  • She sighs and says yeah sadly

  • Maybe we should just try to get along

  • Teacher doing something funny and he points it out

  • They both laugh, then catch themselves doing it and stop quickly

  • Them walking past each other in school and him smiling awkwardly

  • Them walking home together laughing

  • Still texting anonymously

  • Them working together at a table and joking around etc

  • His friend says to him “why you nice to her shes so weird” or something

  • He says uncomfortably like “yeah i know shes so weird i just have to pretend because our mums are best friends”

  • She confronts him, really upset like why would u say that

  • He's getting angry too

  • She starts to walk away, crying

  • She sends a text to her anonymous texter

  • Hear his phone ping loudly

  • She turns around slowly and says his name
