ANALYSING FILM POSTERS - INTRODUCTION

I am now going to look at posters for films as I will need to create a poster as part of the marketing campaign for my film. I want to see what the general conventions of film posters are, regardless of the genre the film belongs to, so I am going to look at 5 posters from films from different genres to identify similar conventions across them. 

The film posters I am going to be looking at are the following: 

1. 'Winter's Bone' - a thriller

2. 'Gladiator' - an epic

3. 'The Dark Knight' - superhero

4. 'Inception' - heist movie

5. 'Boyhood' - coming-of-age movie
